In line with its vision of “Finance for All”, GCash, the country’s leading e-wallet, has signed a memorandum of agreement with the local government Mabalacat City, Pampanga to deliver digital solutions and financial inclusion to the employees and constituents of the city as well as educate them on the features and benefits of using GCash’s digital financial services.
Under the agreement, citizens of Mabalacat will now be able to pay their business and real property taxes through the Pay Bills feature inside the GCash app. Public market vendors can also easily accept payment from their customers using the GCash QR payment option, with 98 vendors already onboarded for GCash QR payment acceptance.
GCash also aims to give locals an opportunity to earn extra income by becoming partners under GCash Pera Outlet (PO), which is a feature on the GCash app that enables micro-entrepreneurs to offer their communities access to various GCash services such as Cash-in, Cash-out, Pay Bills, and Send Money. By being a GCash PO partner, enterprising Filipinos like sari-sari store owners, have the opportunity to earn as much as P10,000 a month through fees charged on transactions. They can also have an increased wallet size of up to P500,000 and free Cash-in via GCash agents.
In pursuit of its mission to make Filipinos’ lives better every day, GCash also promoted the Paleng-QR Ph initiative in Mabalacat, launching digital financial services for public markets vendors and tricycle drivers to allow them to easily transact with their customers using the GCash. The locals will also have a safer and quicker way to receive their financial assistance and subsidy from the City Government with the help of GCash.
To further promote digital payment adoption, GCash will also hold financial literacy (FinLit) programs to local government employees, market vendors, and heads of Tricycle Operators and Drivers’ Associations (TODA). With this, GCash aims to educate consumers on how they can use and maximize the GCash app, including access to financial services such as GCredit, GLoans, GInsure, and more. GCash will also educate Mabalaquenians on how to better secure their accounts and avoid being scammed.
“We aim to leverage GCash’s technology and broad reach to provide our constituents safe, easy, and efficient payment options,” Mabalacat City Administrator Franco Madlangbayan said.
Through more strategic partnerships with LGUs and communities, GCash continues to expand its contribution in helping the Philippines achieve financial inclusion – allowing Filipinos to have easy access to secure and impactful digital financial solutions and empowering communities to be digital-ready across the nation.
Filipinos can download the GCash app for free on Google Play and the App store.
