Marcus Davis releases “2 Late 2 Soon” featuring Bea Carlos, another valuable addition to the OPM industry. Drawing inspiration from indie and R&B genres, the Tagalog single highlights his powerful command over the craft. With over 18 years of experience in the OPM industry, he believes that the record shows a different side of his decorated musical career as a music producer.

“2 Late 2 Soon is the debut single of the first artist signed to my record label Metro Music. This marks a pivotal change in the evolution of my career. Until this point, I have worked closely with most of the labels in the country as a music producer, often working with the top artists in the industry.”

Dancing to a Different Tune

As a producer, Marcus made sure to meticulously piece the musical arrangement for “2 Late 2 Soon” together. But to him, the show’s real star must always be the vocals.

“I would describe this arrangement as an Indie-R&B sound with sparse ambient textures that leave space for the vocalist to shine. I also used pieces of the vocalist’s voice as an ambient instrument that floats around in the background creating indistinct harmonic texture.”

The tune is married with compelling lyrics sung in Tagalog, which talks about how young adults navigate through and experience the rough terrain of relationships. But the song also speaks an even more powerful message, one that transcends languages:

“This song is different because of the Tagalog and how we seamlessly integrated it into a modern international sound. Our mission with this song was to have a non-Tagalog-speaking person love the song without fully understanding the lyrics. I believe that music is a universal language that [can] bring cultures together and introduce the hearts and spirits of one culture to another. We hope this song plays a role in sharing that spirit.“

On Choosing Bea Carlos

Marcus attributes the single’s success to Bea Carlos, the main singer, and writer of “2 Late 2 Soon.” Bea started as a live streamer and quickly rose to fame due to her powerful vocals and natural flair for music.

Marcus shares, “[There are] no real difficulties with this song. That is also in part due to the exceptional talent of Bea Carlos. Working with her has been a true pleasure. Her excitement for the process and the journey is contagious and reminds me why I fell in love with music many years ago.”

Apart from the undeniable talent imbibed within the single, it also exudes two simple but defining attributes—relatability and honesty. These traits capture the collaboration’s nature—just two passionate individuals in the industry producing top-notch music. And this is what Marcus wishes to pursue as his record label grows.

Marcus Davis promises fans more great music from influential artists that “reflect the lives, loves, obstacles, and experiences of the Modern Pinoy” with his label.
