The show will launch globally in other countries later through Prime Video. Check out some reasons why True to Love is a must-watch rom-com here!
1. Return of Rom-Com Queen Yoo In-na
Many fans will recognize Yoo In-na from her hit dramas including Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, Touch Your Heart, The Spies Who Loved Me, and more. After appearing in Snowdrop, there is much excitement at the actress’s return to the rom-com genre. Yoo In-na commented, “Yes, I’m returning after 3 years with a rom-com. I think I tried to show a more human side and less of a loveable and cute side compared to my past roles. My character has more of a bold and rough side. I made an effort to show the real side of Bo-ra.” Yoo In-na has never disappointed with her characters, so we can definitely look forward to another great rom-com from her.
2. Realistic Lessons About Love
With a dating coach as the main character, one can assume this series will provide some lessons on love. Each character has a different dating style and there are realistic lessons we can learn from them. With different keywords such as strategy, sincerity, and freedom, viewers will be able to learn how these factors change for each of the characters. Director Lee Tae-gon shared, “I think everyone is curious about the essence of dating. I think if there was a definite rule about dating, we wouldn’t have so many dramas and films about it. Our drama doesn’t give you the solution but it helps you contemplate what love is and what you should do.”
3. Relatable Characters & Couples
The relatable characters and couples of True to Love will surely draw you in. Through them, we can empathize and relate to their different situations and relationship stages. Director Lee Tae-gon said, “There are lot of diverse couples portrayed through the series such as a middle-aged couple, a couple in the early stages of their relationship, a married couple who are experiencing marital boredom, as well as a couple who have broken up and are wondering how they can love now. We made it diverse so that whatever kind of couple you are, you can see yourself in these couples.” The varied representation will help anyone be able to relate.
4. It’s Really Funny
You can’t leave out the comedy from a rom-com. Rest assured, True to Love will be very funny. Yoo In-na herself talked about how funny the series is as well as her 3 co-stars. She commented, “Every moment on set was so fun and Yoon Hyun-min was eager to be even funnier.” Joo Sang-wook added, “Hyun-min is really fun, both his personality and the way he talks. I believe you’ll be able to enjoy the show and laugh.” Yoo In-na also said, “Chan-sung is really funny and he wants to make people laugh.” Hwang Chan-sung shared that the 3 of them had a competition of sorts to be the funniest. We can’t wait to see all of the funny moments throughout the show!
5. It’s Comforting & Uplifting
With the weight of everyday life and problems on our shoulders, sometimes we just need a comforting show to watch that will uplift our mood. Director Lee Tae-gon commented, “I’ve been doing dramas for over 30 years. The goal of becoming a drama director was I hoped to make my life a bit brighter. This dream of mine started when I was young, but it continues now. The world appears to be going through a dark tunnel, so my heart is heavy. I hope that this drama can make people smile and comfort people.” True to Love will be a show that can soothe and cheer you up after a long day at work or school.
