Jakarta-born, LA-based singer-songwriter, and producer NIKI announces her upcoming “Nicole World Tour” this summer and fall. To coincide with this announcement, NIKI also unveils the music video for fan favorite track “Backburner” and releases her new live album Live at the Wiltern, out now via 88rising.
Following her sold-out North American headlining tour last fall, NIKI is bringing her live show to cities across the globe with her 2023 world tour which will span across North America, Asia, and Europe. The run also includes performances at festivals including Head in the Clouds NYC, Lollapalooza, and Outside Lands. Tickets will be on sale to the public on Thursday, May 18th at 10AM local time, following local presales on May 16th and 17th.
Directed by Isaac Ravishankara, the new music video for NIKI’s fan favorite track “Backburner” is deliberate and intimate. NIKI takes viewers into her world as she watches old footage recorded on her camcorder and re-lives fond memories of a past relationship.
NIKI’s first ever live album Live at the Wiltern features live recordings performed at the final show of NIKI’s sold-out headlining tour at the Los Angeles venue last October. The live album includes performances of tracks from her sophomore album Nicole as well as previous standout songs including “Lowkey,” “Every Summertime,” and more.
Last summer, NIKI released her sophomore album Nicole, a project that sees her where she shines, returning to her singer-songwriter roots in a carefully crafted coming-of-age juncture that sees present-day NIKI meet with her teenage self. The album was released to critical acclaim by the likes of NPR, Billboard, Vanity Fair, and V Magazine, who hailed Nicole as “NIKI’s piece-de-resistance that kicks off an exceptional new chapter for the burgeoning songstress.”
Following the release of Nicole, NIKI also made her acting debut in her short film But I’m Letting Go. The film is a moving retelling of her first love story and heartbreak and expands upon the story previously seen in the music videos for her songs “High School in Jakarta,” “Oceans & Engines,” and “Before,” allowing viewers to gain an even deeper insight into NIKI’s personal story during her teenage years in Jakarta.
NIKI has had an impressive career thus far, amassing over 2.1 billion streams worldwide and opening for Taylor Swift on tour when she was just 15. In addition to performing at Coachella and embarking on her headlining North American tour last fall, she has also performed at 88rising’s Head in the Clouds Festival in Los Angeles, Manila, and Jakarta, and is set to perform at Head in the Clouds in New York City later this month.
