Among the leading local skincare brands that made an impression on the market is Beautéderm, founded by Rei Anicoche-Tan. She draws inspiration from her passion for helping Filipinos look and feel confident. She became a trailblazer that revolutionized the beauty industry and became a role model for many.
Yet what makes Anicoche-Tan successful?
The first secret she divulged was that she always remembers where she came from by honoring her parents. Coming from wealthy and affluent families on both her parents’ sides, Anicoche-Tan’s mother often reminded her from a young age that money and fame are fleeting, which gave the Beautéderm founder and CEO a different perspective on how to build her brand from scratch.
“Laging sinasabi ng nanay ko na ‘be humble.’ Na-realize ko na ang kayamanan pala nawawala. Kaya lagi akong tinatapik ng nanay ko at sinasabing, ‘anak, kalma lang,’” the Beautéderm founder said.
Seeing her parents work together against challenges also inspired Anicoche-Tan to be proud of what she’s doing, provided it’s legal, safe, and dignified.
Without their significant life lessons during her formative years, Anicoche-Tan wouldn’t be the humble, innovative, and admirable woman she is today.
The power of manifestation also worked in Anicoche-Tan’s favor. It’s the foundation of her other secret to success, which revolves around dreaming big, having faith, and trusting in herself to accomplish the goals she set for herself.
“Ang meron lang ako noon ay puso, tiyaga, at talino,” she shared.
Before becoming the groundbreaking beauty entrepreneur, Anicoche-Tan worked as a DJ for Yes FM for a time while she was in school. She then proceeded to Avon Philippines before becoming the Vice President for Sales and Marketing of Saver’s Appliances.
She learned the ins and outs of handling a business which gave her the confidence to branch out.
During this time Anicoche-Tan began exploring having a skincare brand as her side hustle. She started with a capital of P3,500 but eventually saw Beautéderm’s potential to become a profitable venture. It made her quit her corporate job in 2016 and focus on growing Beautéderm as her primary income source and passion project.
She also established her first clinic in 2016, the Beautéderm store and Beautéhaus Skin Clinic, in Villa Angela Subdivision, Angeles City, Pampanga.
Lastly, Anicoche-Tan advises aspiring entrepreneurs to be patient because great things take time, and success doesn’t happen overnight. From offering product exchange deals with willing celebrities, Beautéderm now has almost 100 brand ambassadors, and the number of physical stores is growing all over the Philippines.
Other pieces of evidence of her success include the construction of the main Beautéderm Headquarters, which houses her other business ventures, namely Beauté Beanery and A-list Avenue.
Besides the secrets she mentioned that sum up the reasons for her success, another factor that contributed immensely to her accomplishments is her fair treatment of others. Even before establishing Beautéderm, Anicoche-Tan developed a lasting relationship with her employees and colleagues. It provided her with a loyal team who shared her goals of making Filipinos look and feel confident while making their wildest dreams come true.
It may have taken Anicoche-Tan some years before she achieved the goals she used to dream of, but her positive upbringing and outlook in life gave the strong foundations that allowed her to manage her growth accordingly.
