Who doesn’t like a good music-inspired film? Lionsgate Play invites you to immerse yourself in a playlist that spans the spectrum of human emotion – from the raw grit of struggling artists to the electrifying passion of star-crossed lovers and bittersweet romance. Go ahead and nod your head, tap your toes, and step into the rhythm of cinematic magic with Lionsgate Play’s curated selection.

Inside Llewyn Davis (2013)

Inside Llewyn Davis follows a down-and-out young folk singer trying to make a name for himself in 1961 New York City. Struggling to make ends meet in the competitive Greenwich Village scene, Llewyn bounces between friends’ couches and gigs while chasing a musical breakthrough that seems increasingly out of reach. Oscar Isaac stars in the titular role alongside other actors like Carrey Mulligan, John Goodman, Justin Timberlake, and Adam Driver.

La La Land (2016)

While navigating their careers in Los Angeles, aspiring actress Mia (Emma Stone) and pianist Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) attempt to chase their dreams and fall in love. Mia juggles auditions and waitressing gigs while Sebastian fights to keep pure jazz alive in a world of commercialized music. However, as their careers take off, ambition and sacrifice threaten to tear them apart. La La Land is a bittersweet love story about chasing dreams and the sacrifices they demand.

Step Up (2006)

After rebellious Tyler Gage (Channing Tatum) trashes a performing arts school, he gets sentenced to community service – mopping floors and cleaning the halls of the Maryland School of Arts. There, he meets Nora Clark (Jenna Dewan), a talented dancer stuck in a rut after her partner gets injured. Witnessing Tyler’s street moves, Nora takes a chance and lets him help with her choreography. Despite their different backgrounds, sparks fly as the pair create a groundbreaking dance routine, pushing each other to chase their dreams and ignite a love that might just steal the show.

Dirty Dancing (1987)

In the summer of 1963, Frances “Baby” Houseman (Jennifer Grey) vacations with her family at a Catskills mountain resort. Trapped in a predictable summer, she longs for excitement. Baby stumbles into the staff quarters’ electrifying world of dance and music, where she meets Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze), the resort’s magnetic dance instructor. The pair fall in love despite everyone’s warnings. But social divides and a secret threaten to tear them apart. Will Baby defy expectations and fight for her love, perhaps even discovering a hidden talent for dance, in the face of societal pressure?

Nashville (2012-2018)

Explore the ever-changing world of country music in Nashville, a series that follows the triumphs and heartbreaks of ambitious female musicians. Veteran country star Rayna James (Connie Britton) faces a fading career. To stay afloat, she is forced to share the stage with rising young talent, the ambitious Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere). Meanwhile, aspiring singer-songwriter Scarlett O’Connor (Clare Bowen) navigates the music industry with her own dreams.
