Together in celebrating homegrown inventors and innovative creations alike, the Philippines’ leading logistics and delivery service provider, J&T Express, supported the 2024 National Inventions Contest and Exhibits (NICE) organized by the Technology Application and Promotion Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-TAPI).
The 2024 NICE was held last July 16-18 at the Manila Marriott Hotel in Pasay City, where J&T Express presented the awards to the winners which range from the most creative research to the outstanding inventions made by students and professionals alike.
Together with the J&T Express Philippines Team present during the awarding ceremonies are DOST Secretary Dr. Renato Solidum, Jr. and DOST-TAPI Director, Atty. Marion Ivy Decena. The event was hosted by Miss Earth-Air 2023 Ms. Yllana Marie Aduana.
According to Secretary Solidum, collaboration is important in making innovations realistic: “As we gathered to recognize the outstanding contributions of our participants in the categories, let us not forget the importance of collaboration—great minds think better together. And by sharing ideas, we create an environment where innovation can flourish.”
Aside from presenting the awards, J&T Express also installed a booth within the event proper to promote its services and a mobile app to draw more clients. Customers and e-commerce platform users alike can download the app now on the App Store, Google Play Store, and Huawei App Gallery.
J&T Express also supported another flagship program of DOST-TAPI which is the Invent School™ Program. J&T Express provided learning kits which will be given to select students during the conduct of the Invent School™ seminar workshops. The Invent School™ is a year-long program that provides an opportunity for students in the Elementary, High School, and College levels to not only develop their creativity and potential but also to awaken their true ingenuity.
“All the donations and pledges from esteemed companies like J&T Express are a testament to their corporate social responsibility to make a positive impact on the lives of others. We highly appreciate them [J&T] for getting on this journey with us in showcasing Filipino innovations,” says Mr. Rizalniño Noble, Invent School™ Program Manager.
This act of generosity was made possible through the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) certification, which identified the Invent School™ and 2024 NICE as part of the 2024 National Priority Projects or NPP. The NPP lists priority programs, projects, and government activities in education, health, youth and sports development, human settlements, science and culture, and economic development.
