This campaign shares the inspiring stories of these healthcare professionals, highlighting their dedication, motivations, and unwavering commitment to patient care.
Honoring the Heart of Filipino Healthcare
At the core of every MPH hospital are the dedicated doctors and nurses who go above and beyond to provide exceptional care. The “MPH Heroes” campaign brings their stories to the forefront, offering a glimpse into the lives of those who have chosen to dedicate themselves to the health and well-being of others.

Meet the Heroes: Stories of Dedication and Compassion
One of the stories highlighted in the campaign is that of Nurse Ivy Melanie Paguia, a dedicated cancer care nurse in the oncology department at Cardinal Santos Medical Center. Ivy’s journey into nursing began in childhood, inspired by the compassionate care her father received during his illness. This experience ignited her passion for nursing and led her to pursue a career dedicated to helping others. Despite the challenges of her profession, Ivy finds fulfillment in every moment spent caring for her patients. She believes that the ability to care for others is a special quality inherent in Filipino healthcare workers.
Nurse Paguia explained that “Oncology nursing is not just about treating cancer; it’s about being there for patients during some of the toughest moments of their lives. Every day, I am reminded of the strength and courage of my patients, and it inspires me to give them the best care possible. Nursing is a calling, and I am honored to be able to make a difference in someone’s life.”
Another story featured in the campaign is that of Dr. Avelino “Jun” Aventura Jr., a cardiothoracic surgeon at De Los Santos Medical Center. Dr. Jun’s path to becoming a doctor was inspired by his father’s impactful work in medicine. Today, Dr. Jun is committed to making a real difference in the lives of his patients, bringing relief and hope to those he treats. His work not only fulfills his professional passion but also serves as a way to honor his father’s legacy and set a positive example for his family.
Dr. Aventura Jr. pointed out that “As a cardiothoracic surgeon, I have the privilege of working on the very organ that sustains life—the heart. It’s a field that requires precision, but also a deep sense of compassion. Every surgery is an opportunity to give someone more time, more life, and more moments with their loved ones. That is what drives me every day.”
