TELUS International Philippines (TIP), a leading AI-powered customer experience and business process solutions provider soon to be rebranded as TELUS Digital Philippines later in the third quarter, is celebrating 10 years of support for the Department of Education’s Brigada Eskwela program. The company’s decade-long commitment has significantly enhanced learning environments for more than 61,000 students across 22 public schools in Manila and Iloilo, fostering safe and conducive learning environments in these communities where TIP operates.

Over the past 10 years, more than 17,200 TIP team members have collectively volunteered more than 85,000 hours to Brigada Eskwela. This year, TIP’s TELUS Days of Giving (TDOG) event in Iloilo took place at Ramon Avanceña National High School, where 192 team members from TIP’s two Iloilo sites came together and volunteered alongside its teachers and students.

In addition to the successful Iloilo event, the company’s TDOG event in Manila had more than 1,500 team member volunteers who revitalized Manuel G. Araullo High School. Established in 1918, the school serves students from Grades 7 to 12, including adult and out-of-school learners through the Alternative Learning System.

The dedicated volunteers in Manila painted nearly 100 classrooms, refurbished 500 chairs and repainted hallways and staircases to provide the students and teachers with inspiring and comfortable spaces for the academic year ahead. In addition to these activities, TIP also engaged construction crews and specialized workers to complete repairs to roofs, waterproof buildings, and enhance essential infrastructure. TELUS International Philippines also donated 190 fans, and 33 exit signs and emergency lights. Altogether, these improvements provide immediate benefits and help sustain a safe and high-quality learning environment that can positively influence students’ educational outcomes for years to come.

“Giving back to our communities is at the heart of our company culture, and our ongoing commitment to support Brigada Eskwela as well as these two schools this year, was guided by a thorough assessment to ensure we maximized the impact of our volunteer efforts in order to enhance how these students access and experience education,” said Rajiv M. Dhand, TELUS International APAC and Africa Regional Vice-President. “We believe our success as a company is incumbent upon the well-being of the communities where our team members and their families live, work and serve. In addition to our annual Brigada Eskwela TDOG events, our team members also support several other education-focused CSR programs that our company organizes, including donation drives to raise funds for distance learning modules and virtual volunteering activities.”

The impact of TIP’s commitment extends beyond physical improvements to the schools. The culture of giving back has empowered team members, fostering personal and professional growth, camaraderie, and a stronger network across the company, all while instilling a greater sense of purpose.

“Bayanihan is central to this program, and it is a Filipino cultural value that we strongly believe in,” said Anne Muñoz, TELUS International Philippines Country Vice-President. “It takes a village to educate our youth, and we consider ourselves lucky to have the opportunity to work with the teachers, parents, barangay, and government to support local students and schools.”

This commitment to volunteerism and community support enhances the overall access to education, ensuring that more students can pursue their academic and career goals. “By equipping these students for the next level of their academic journey or their future careers, we contribute to improving their lives and those of their families,” added Muñoz.

Since 2014, TELUS International Philippines team member volunteers have dedicated over 86,000 hours by supporting Brigada Eskwela in the following schools:
