Global automotive brand OMODA&JAECOO Philippines is showing off its Super Hybrid System (SHS) technology, the smoothest powertrain to hit the Philippine automotive market, at the 2025 Auto Focus Summer Test Drive Festival. For the first time in the country, the JAECOO J7 SHS, the brand’s first hybrid SUV built with the SHS technology, is now available for public test drives from May 8 – 11 at the Mall of Asia Concert Grounds.
OMODA&JAECOO Philippines’ participation in this year’s Auto Focus Festival will spotlight its unique, global Super Hybrid System, the technology that powers JAECOO J7 SHS’ long-range capabilities and powerful performance. This powertrain pairs a 1.5T GDI turbo-charged direct-injection engine with a DHT hybrid transmission. When these components work in tandem, they can produce a combined power of 342 HP, a combined torque of 525 Nm, 44.5% thermal efficiency, and 98.5% electric drive efficiency.
The SHS Powertrain also efficiently consumes its fuel and electric power sources. This harnesses six core technologies, including Deep Miller Cycle, Intelligent High Efficiency Combustion (i-HEC), regenerative braking, and optimized power distribution, to consume just 1.0 liter of fuel every 100 kilometers. The J7 SHS’ 18.3 kWh lithium-ion battery also charges quickly, powering up from 30% to 80% in just 20 minutes. Thanks to these features, motorists can maximize their time on the road without frequently stopping to refuel or recharge.
Beyond long-range capabilities and efficient power consumption, the SHS Powertrain also boasts industry-leading safety mechanisms. Its comprehensive battery protection system is waterproof and heat and impact-resistant. Its ultra-high electrical safety control, particularly the 2-millisecond power cutoff function, can also prevent thermal runaway. Through these functions, the SHS Powertrain fortifies all OMODA and JAECOO hybrid vehicles for all types of emergencies, including collisions or harsh weather conditions. The JAECOO J7 SHS, in particular, earned a global five-star safety rating from the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP), where it scored 81% in the adult occupant protection test and 80% in the child occupant protection, vulnerable road user (pedestrian) protection, and safety assist systems tests.
Because of the SHS Powertrain’s advanced technology, the JAECOO J7 SHS has garnered international recognition. Last April, the model underwent the Super Hybrid Marathon, which spanned the Philippines, Mexico, Thailand, Brazil, and other markets. During this cross-country marathon, the JAECOO J7 SHS showed off its abilities to endure long-haul road trips and navigate various terrains, including gravel, mud, rivers, and grasslands. In fact, the model pulled off a combined range of 1,613.1 km in Mexico, setting a new global Super Hybrid Marathon record.
“With the first batch of JAECOO J7 SHS set to arrive in the Philippines soon, we want to give Filipinos a glimpse into our industry-leading Super Hybrid System with this test drive opportunity,” OMODA&JAECOO Philippines said in a statement. “Our Super Hybrid System is a byproduct of our automotive engineering DNA. This powertrain underwent rigorous testing and development to achieve its long-range, high-performance, and high-safety capabilities.”
Aside from the JAECOO J7 SHS, the OMODA C5, OMODA E5, and JAECOO EJ6 will also be available for test drives. Interested test drivers may register at the venue. Upon registration, guests must sign a liability waiver and attend a briefing on the safety procedures and test drive route.
The JAECOO J7 SHS will soon be available for sale in the Philippines. Interested buyers may inquire at OMODA&JAECOO Philippines’ dealerships in Pasig City, Sta. Rosa City in Laguna, Cebu City, Alabang in Muntinlupa City, and Tagum City in Davao del Norte.
