At only 19 years old, Elisha ‘Isha’ Pontanares, known to her growing audience as Isha Ponti, emerges as one of the most compelling young voices in contemporary Filipino music.

In an industry often driven by trends and fleeting moments, Isha stands apart, grounded, purposeful, and remarkably self-aware, with an artistic depth that far exceeds her years.

Rooted in family, guided by storytelling, and fueled by an unshakable sense of identity, Isha now prepares to release her self-titled debut studio album, a deeply personal milestone that signals not just a beginning, but a declaration of intent.

For Isha, music has never been about performance alone. From the very start, it has been about truth. She began singing at the age of seven and writing songs by nine, discovering early on that music was her language for understanding the world. Even as a child, her instincts leaned toward sincerity and emotional honesty, qualities that would later become the backbone of her artistry.

Today, Isha has written nearly 20 songs, both for herself and for other artists, steadily carving out a creative identity that feels intimate, intentional, and unmistakably her own.

She is an artist of many dimensions, singer, songwriter, dancer, rapper, producer, and creative leader. Isha Ponti does not merely perform music, she shapes it from the inside out. Her command of her own vision has earned her recognition as ‘Asia’s Pop Sweetheart’, a title born not from viral spectacle, but from consistent, resonant songwriting that bridges generations.

In 2024, her growing influence was formally recognized when she received the ‘Best New Female Artist’ award at the Aliw Awards, one of the most prestigious honors in Philippine performing arts. The accolade affirmed what audiences had already begun to feel, that Isha’s presence onstage and in song carries both promise and substance.

Long before this pivotal chapter, Isha had already proven her global potential. She was named Grand Champion of Asia’s Best Singing Competition and earned top honors at the Euro-Talent Festival in the Czech Republic, early triumphs that demonstrated her readiness for international stages. These milestones were not strokes of luck, but evidence of an artist steadily claiming her place in the wider musical world.

Her upcoming self-titled album marks a defining moment in her journey. More than a debut, it is a fully realized body of work authored entirely by Isha herself. The seven-track album, featuring ‘Halika’, ‘Hinga’, ‘Gulong’, ‘Mismo’, ‘Warmth’, ‘Riversky’, and ‘Numero’, unfolds like a series of emotional chapters, blending pop sensibility with poetic introspection and vivid storytelling.

This album is a sonic diary, an exploration of growth, love, resilience, and self-discovery. It captures the inner life of a young woman navigating identity, artistry, and connection in an ever-shifting world.

Through melody and lyric, Isha makes her quiet yet powerful declaration. “This is who I am.”

The album’s sound was shaped in collaboration with her frequent creative partner, Adonis Tabanda, whose musical sensibility complements Isha’s compositions. Together, they crafted arrangements that elevate each track while preserving the emotional core that makes the songs deeply personal and authentic.

At the center of Isha’s story is family. Her parents, Alvin and Emeelette Pontanares, have been unwavering pillars of support since the very beginning, encouraging her early songwriting, guiding her creative growth, and standing beside her through every milestone. Isha often credits their belief in her as the foundation of her courage to pursue music that is honest and meaningful.

“I’m grateful for every bit of encouragement,” she shared in an interview, “and I wouldn’t be here without the support of my mom and dad.”

That love—steady, quiet, and enduring—runs like an invisible thread through her music, shaping the emotional truth behind every lyric she writes and every note she sings.

Beyond the studio, Isha Ponti has steadily built an impressive live performance résumé. She has performed original songs in sold-out venues, co-headlined concerts, and served as a front act for revered OPM legends, each appearance strengthening her presence and deepening her connection with audiences.

Among her most notable performances was her role as a front act at Nonoy Zuñiga’s 50th Anniversary Concert, ‘Beyond Gold: Songs of a Lifetime’, at the Newport Performing Arts Theater. There, she performed original tracks such as ‘Tangan’, ‘Kabang Kaba‘, and ‘Dyahe’, earning enthusiastic audience response through her dynamic stage presence. Due to popular demand, she returned for the show’s December repeat, an affirmation of her growing resonance with concertgoers.

She also served as a front act for Marco Sison’s ‘Seasons of OPM’ concert at The Theater at Solaire and appeared as a special guest at ‘All That Sound‘ by Chad Borja at the Music Museum. Her versatility shone further when she performed before a sold-out crowd at her first major concert, ‘The Next Ones’, directed by the acclaimed and brilliant Calvin Neria, also held at the Music Museum.

These were more than opening performances. They were formative stages, moments where Isha grew alongside pillars of the Filipino music industry, refined her live artistry, and strengthened her confidence as an artist charting her own path.

Now, as she steps forward with her self-titled album and prepares to take center stage as a headlining artist, anticipation surrounds her, not only among her fans, but across the Filipino music scene. This is not merely the arrival of a debut album. It is the emergence of a voice ready to help define a new era of OPM, thoughtful, heartfelt, and unapologetically authentic.

As Isha Ponti enters this new chapter, one truth rings clear, this is an artist who does not chase the spotlight, but earns it through honesty, craft, and courage. The world is not simply about to hear her music.

It is about to feel it.
