Manila Water Foundation celebrated World Water Day by collecting pledgesfrom almost 400 participants to promote an active stance in ensuring the improvement of cleanliness of water sources as well as the wise use of waterduring the recently concluded World Water Day Concert entitled ‘Every beat leads to Manila Bay’ held at the Glorietta Activity Center.
According tothe Environmental Management Bureau of the Department of the Natural Resources (EMB-DENR) National Director Juan Miguel Cunaefforts on “community education on the importance of water and the proper preservation of water resources is a mission performed in collaboration of different sectors”.
“Learning the reason why one needs to be involved and how to be involved are primary steps in reviving the Philippine waters” Cuna adds.
Ferdinand dela Cruz, President of Manila Water Foundation shares thatthis approach will empower communities by putting the part of the solution in the hands of people. “Health strains and other challenges brought by the lack of water and proper sanitation affect many. Instilling the value of clean and safe water, and recognizing the means by which each may contribute to this are critical in reaching sustainable solutions,”said dela Cruz.
“It is part of our advocacy to implement water education programs that form people’s knowledge on how to use water responsibly and efficiently,”dela Cruz adds. To date, over 8,500 people have participated in Manila Water Foundation’s education platforms.
Manila Water Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of East Zone concessionaire Manila Water for areas within Metro Manila and beyond, supported the World Water Day Concert in collaboration with Earth Day Jam Foundation and DENR.
