TV5 champions the cause of World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines and joins the whole world in raising awareness about climate change by supporting Earth Hour Philippines and the main switch-off event that will happen at the Quezon Memorial Circle from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Saturday, March 28.
Known as the world’s first open-source climate change campaign, Earth Hour has been successful in encouraging people in over 7,000 cities in 163 countries around the world to take the simple action of turning off lights for 60 minutes to deliver a powerful message on the need for decisive climate change solutions.
As a media champion for Earth Hour Philippines, TV5 enjoins Filipinos across the nation to take part in the campaign’s worthy cause by simultaneously switching off their lights for 60 minutes on Saturday night at exactly 7:00 PM to put across the message that the Philippines is one with the world in the common goal to ‘change’ climate change.
WWF-Philippines makes this year’s Earth Hour more meaningful through its “Give the Gift of Light” campaign, through which the organization will deploy hundreds of portable solar lamps “to help families in Palawan safely and economically light up their homes” and to help children study better at night in the island communities of Northern Palawan.
