It’s that time of the year again for tiger (a.k.a. super hands-on) moms to hit the malls in search for the most elaborate and colorful costumes for their little ones to wear for United Nations (UN) Day on October 24. Schools and all SM Malls celebrate this day with a weeklong series of fun events.
What makes UN Day a beloved event for Pinoy moms and kids? Here’s a quick rundown:
- Time to shine!
Moms love watching their kids under the spotlight and UN Day is one of those perfect moments! It’s a day when #ProudMom hashtags flood social media with the cutest shots of children modeling, parading the mall premises, and posing for the camera with their friends and schoolmates. Seeing your kid with that big, sweet smile in the costume you tried perfecting all night long is definitely…Priceless.
- New friends
True to the spirit of the United Nations that commemorates friendship and partnership of nations, new ties are formed, not only among kids, but also among parents during and after the UN celebrations at SM malls. Usually after the program, these new friendships are celebrated in a salu-salo where moms are given the opportunity to bond through having heart-to-heart talks with each other, while the kids spend their time playing with other children their age.
- Edutainment
UN celebrations are perfect examples of edutainment events where kids indirectly learn a lot and have fun at the same time. With all the trivia about UN, its member countries, and even about the national costumes and flags, everyone in the family will surely gain a takeaway after the fun-filled program.
- Enjoyable after-event meal
After a tiring day of preparing for the costumes, commuting to the mall and walking around for the parade, treating the kids to their favorite restaurants with their most loved dessert for after-event conversations over a hearty meal, completes the day!
- Perfect catch-up time
For modern-day kids who are almost always busy with their gadgets, and busy moms who are eternally concentrated in managing the needs of the whole family, UN Day is the perfect time for them to catch up and make more happy memories together.
#ExperienceTheWorldAtSM malls nationwide this week until October 24.
