What does it take to effectively promote the Philippines as one of the world’s top tourist destinations? At the forefront of the rigorous work of enticing more tourist arrivals and tourism investments in the country is the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), the marketing agency of the Department of Tourism.

Last 21 January 2016, TPB achieved its ISO 9001:2008 Certification after it managed to pass auditing stages 1 and 2 conducted by Certification International Philippines, Inc. (CIP), an affiliate of Swindon-based Certification International U.K. Ltd. Then last 16 February 2016, CIP issued TPB its Certificate of Registration, which confirms TPB for operating a Quality Management System (QMS) with a scope of service covering “the design, development and provision of Philippine tourism marketing and promotion services”, as the certificate reads.

The certification came after almost two gruelling years of consistent process improvements, periodic auditing and assessments and various trainings. TPB underwent the certification in compliance to Executive Order No. 605, which requires the institutionalization of quality management systems in government. The ISO 9001:2008 Certification affirms TPB’s standards as of the same quality as other international management systems.

“This ISO certification affirms TPB’s commitment to providing quality and efficient services to its clients and partners as the foremost promoter of Philippine tourism. It compels us to be consistent in our processes, and in essence, give the best that we can in order to reach our shared vision of making the country a top choice for travelers and tourism investors,” TPB Chief Operating Officer Domingo Ramon Enerio III shared upon the conclusion of the TPB board meeting last 15 February 2016.
