ABS-CBN Corporation, the country’s leading media and entertainment company, announced the appointment of Antonio Ventosa as the new chief operating Officer of Sky Cable Corporation, a leading cable and broadband technology provider in the Philippines.

Ventosa will be responsible for the company’s overall business strategy and operations. He assumes the position as the company celebrates its 25th anniversary and inherits leadership of a company already strong in cable television but is eyeing expansion into being more than just a cable service.

Under his leadership, SKY is expanding nationwide with its recently launched direct-to-home service, branded as SKYdirect. “With the launch of Sky Direct, our Kapamilyas anywhere in the country can now share the Sky experience.” he said.

He is also steering the company’s aggressive expansion of its broadband business, branded as SKYbroadband, which has grown twice the rate of industry’s. The company now offers unlimited broadband service bundled with a prepaid access to SKYcable and is keen on increasing the market take-up of its video-on-demand service, SKY On Demand.

Ventosa joined ABS-CBN in 2006 as Head of Marketing and moved to lead several business subsidiaries of the group including Studio 23, Creative Programs Inc., ABS-CBN Publishing, DTT TV+ channels. Most recently, he was appointed OIC for ABS-CBN Corporation’s access business. He led the transformation of several brands and subsidiaries in the group including the change of Studio 23 and launch of ABS-CBN Sports and Action in 2014, the launch of Jeepney TV in 2013 for Creative Programs Inc. and DTT TV+ channels in 2015 and ABS-CBN Publishing’s shift to digital.

Prior to joining ABS-CBN, Ventosa was with the Leo Burnett group for over 20 years as Managing Director of Leo Burnett Manila and President of Black Pencil and Arc Worldwide.
