Every now and then, the traditional classroom framework needs to be augmented. Not because it is lacking, but because we all need that additional support to accelerate our way to the top. As such, Your Tutorial Center (YTC) teaches the children that not just the academic matters, but also inculcates in them important values and attitudes that they can use to achieve their goals.
“I wasn’t excessively fond of math and numbers, but YTC helped make the numbers more manageable,” says Patricia Enriquez, a research consultant in the Asian Development Bank and an editorial associate for the Philippine Sociological Reviews. She shared that YTC was instrumental in paving her way to success.
“I felt that I needed a different kind of support and guidance when it came to math and YTC made sure that they found an approach that would interest someone like me. Because of this, math made more sense.Andnow, I even love statistics and quantitative data,” she added.
The staff are professionals and experienced teachers. They used different methods of teaching depending on the needs of the student to assure that they learned what they need.
“YTC’s teachers are approachable. Eventhe staff value education and the safety of the students. They are kind and very enthusiastic, and made learning easier, fun, and more manageable. They made sure that students are equally attended to, and they don’t botherin giving extra assistance or time to those who needed it more.”
Camille Guzman’s experience was different: her mother enrolled her in YTC during her grade school and high school years to improve her English communication skills. And it was deemed to be effective.
“My skills were really developed. But more than that, what really helped me was my good relationship with the teachers. It was not just a teacher-student relationship, they were like a mother and a big sister,” Guzman said. “They understand the challenges of the students but they will push you. They won’t allow you to be lazy in studying and finishing the lessons. You really have to exert effort. “
YTC also helped Guzman in reviewing for the entrance to her dream university in college. She is now a graduate of De La Salle University (DLSU) with the course Interdisciplinary in Business Study, and currently a trainee in Cebu Pacific.
“My career now is really far from my course, but success for me is to meet different people from different culture and region. More than helping me develop my communication skills,YTC inspired me to reach my goal through hard work and determination.” Guzman ended.
These students believe that more than the book based lessons and subject matter discussed. YTC encouraged them to strive hard, equipped them with the right qualities and attitudes and to value the importance of education in attaining their bright future.
“Education has definitely prepared me for my goals. Without it, I would not be able to achieve what I want andYTC has taught me that all things are manageable when you try to give it a bit more time and effort. Nothing comes easy, but with effort, you can achieve anything,” Enriquez ended.
No wonder, these two ladies also share their wonderful experience under YTC through recommending it to their family members and friends.
“I recommend YTC because of their style and approach. It is like a family with parents looking out for you and siblings to help you enjoy your school works. YTC makes learning fun and not a chore. But more than that, it made me feel that learning is for everyone” Enriquez concluded.
