Cast Me! “A 30-minute mash-up of humor, drama and desperation set against the sizzling backdrop of Hollywood, California” with the prestigious DK Casting team running castings for two very different clients and roles nabbed a nomination from the 2017 Reality TV Awards under the “Unique Concept” Category.
Winners will be determined by popular voting on vote.rtvas.com. Myx TV General Manager Miguel Santos said, “We are requesting the show’s fans, followers and the community to show support by voting. It would be cool to top the category in this friendly competition for a coveted award.”
From its website, Reality TV Awards “supports, examines and redefines the art of reality in media by rewarding excellence, encouraging experimentation and recognizing that the public is the heart of our industry.”
Myx TV’s “Cast Me” is going up against the following shows:
- “Better Late Than Never” (NBC);
- “Bong Appetit” (Viceland);
- “Container Homes” (HGTV);
- “Everest Air” (Travel Channel);
- “Ex Isle” (WETv); and
- “Martha/Snoop Potluck Party” (VH1).
Hollywood Reporter in an article by George Johnston in July 2016 featured the show when it launched and here’s an excerpt:
“Cast Me! will put contestants through unusual and eccentric auditions with casting directors as they pursue roles in upcoming television commercials, movies or music videos. The show will be based in Los Angeles at David Kang Casting (DK Casting), which has cast talent for clients including Taylor Swift, Usher, Mountain Dew and Samsung.”
“This is a competition series that hasn’t been done yet,” said Miguel Santos, general manager of Myx TV. “We’ve seen the singers, chefs, entrepreneurs and models all get their shot at achieving their dream. Cast Me! will give audiences a chance to see actors strive for their big break.”
The judges include DK Casting co-owners David Kang and Becky Wu, former Australia’s Biggest Loser host Ajay Rochester and former Latino child star and casting director German Legarreta. The show is executive produced by Harlan Freedman, Kang, Charles Kim and Raymond Watt. Santos is executive producing for Myx TV.
