From its humble beginnings 57 years ago, Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) has grown to become one of the country’s largest universal banks, with a total of 495 branches and 1,511 ATMs. RCBC attributes much of its success to its millions of loyal depositors and customers who have patronized the bank throughout these years.
As a way to give back, RCBC has spearheaded numerous advocacies and campaigns in the fields of education, livelihood, environmental protection and community development.
“We continue to look for gaps that we can fill as we strive to give back to the communities who have helped us grow. We’ve grown together with the Filipino people through reciprocal trust and mutual support. The initiatives that we have are to further amplify our commitment to them,” says Ces Natividad, RCBC Chief Marketing Officer.
RCBC continues to answer the call for environmental. And for the past years, RCBC, together with other YGC Group of Companies, has dedicated time and effort to a number of green projects.
The Bank’s most notable initiative in this regard, is its contribution to the Earthcare project. This is a tripartite partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) together with the local organization of indigenous people in Tanay called Samahan ng mga Magsasaka ng San Andreas, Inc. (SAMASAI) that aims to support the government’s National Greening Program.
The Earthcare project is heavily focused on tree-planting, a concrete initiative by the YGC Group of Companies over the 100 hectares of land in Barangay San Andres, Tanay, Rizal that was endowed by DENR. RCBC has been a proud contributor to this initiative since 2011, and now, the Earthcare project covers 58 hectares of the initial 100 hectares of land.
RCBC continues to be an institutional partner of Gawad Kalinga’s Farm University, a first of its kind program that provides underprivileged but outstanding and deserving students from the province, access to experiential education in entrepreneurship with the goal of raising the social entrepreneurs of tomorrow. RCBC’s contribution to Gawad Kalinga has been tremendous, such as their recent donation of more than 1 million pesos to the institutions’ Kusina ng Kalinga project that came from the sum generated by the special partnership with RCBC Bankard’s Diamond Mastercard that allows cardholders to automatically donate P0.20 for every P100 spent.
RCBC Savings Bank (RSB) has also promoted the habit of saving through the WISE Savings Account to over 60 students of the Farm University who were part of the financial literacy and awareness program conducted by RSB. The students are promising socio-entrepreneurs who have successfully launched their social enterprises focused on farm products and handicrafts.
