The BrickYard, the destination of Mini4WD enthusiasts, is back and bigger than ever at its new home at the 3rd Level of Glorietta 2 in Makati. The BrickYard, previously located at Glorietta 5, was a temporary pop-up Mini-4WD racetrack and hobby space that revived the Mini-4WD hype that began in the late 90s.
The BrickYard’s, situated right next to Lil’s Hobby Center, features two tracks (beginner and intermediate) and a larger space for those who want to build and tinker with their Mini-4WDs. The BrickYard also has a small shop area for those who need new parts for a quick fix on their model cars.
At the BrickYard’s recent Grand Opening, Master Modeller and President and Chairman of Tamiya himself, Mr. Shunsaku Tamiya, was the guest of honor. He signed autographs, had photos with the guest, and witnessed for himself the lively Mini4WD, Model Kit, and RC hobby communities here in the Philippines.
“It makes me very happy to see that Tamiya is still well-loved in the Philippines,” Mr. Tamiya said.
Ferdie Kahn, owner of the BrickYard, hopes that the new and bigger location would further stoke the the Mini-4WD, model kit and RC hobbyists.
“I’m excited for our new venue,” Ferdie said. “When we opened the BrickYard last year, we wanted to rekindle the hearts of the old hobbyists and the older fans back to their love of Mini4WD. Now, we love seeing these older fans, most of them now parents themselves, bringing their children to the BrickYard. There’s just something great about watching parents teach and show their kids about Mini-4WDs, and RCs. That alone is a wonderful thing,” he concluded.
