Globe Fintech Innovations, Inc, (Mynt) which operates GCash, Philippines’ largest mobile wallet and Alfamart Philippines announced that the GCash QR-based mobile payment technology will now be available. This will enable all Alfamart stores to accept payment from both local users using GCash.
Alfamart Philippines, is the latest partner of Mynt, operator of GCash, the electronic mobile wallet that can be used to pay for goods and services in the Philippines by using QR codes.
Afamart is a joint venture between SM and Alfamart Indonesia. It is a small store format that offers Filipino families basic goods, fresh meat, poultry and vegetables as well as food-to-go. It also offers services such as ATM, bills payment and prepaid load.
“GCash provides convenience and security to all shoppers. Now that we have the GCash scan to pay feature at all Alfamart customers with GCash can easily pay the exact amount for their purchases using their phone. Customers will no longer any need to wait for loose change or pay in smaller denominations, or even stand in line for a long time,” said Anthony Thomas, President and CEO of Mynt.
“I tried the Scan-to-pay technology myself and I am impressed with the convenience that this will bring to Alfamart customers who are GCash users. From our end, our cashiers need not worry about providing change to customers since it will be a cashless transaction via the GCash Mobile App. We would like to thank GCash for this partnership and we look forward to exciting promos in the future,” said Robert Kwee, Alfamart Philippines President.
Using the Scan to Pay feature of GCash is simple. A customer with an iPhone or an Android smartphone only needs to download or update to the latest version of the GCash App, register an account, and fund GCash wallet at any of over 15,000 GCash Partner Outlets nationwide – which now includes Alfamart store. Once done, the customer just has to tap on Scan QR, point a phone’s camera at the partner’s QR code, and pay.
