Ayala-led Manila Water bagged the Enterprise Risk Programme of the Year Award at the recently-held StrategicRISK’s Asia-Pacific Risk Management Awards 2018 held in Grand Hyatt Hotel, Singapore.
Manila Water’s ERM program was named the best in the region in recognition of the company’s successful enhancement and implementation of the enterprise risk management approach, which met the changing needs of the business and how it was effectively embedded within the enterprise. It bested other shortlisted entries under this category which were dominated by other Ayala companies that included Ayala Corporation, Globe Telecom and Bank of the Philippine Islands. The ERM program of the year category was sponsored by the Zurich Insurance Group. Manila Water was also shortlisted for the Risk Training Programme of the Year.
Manila Water Chief Risk Officer Jocelyn Frances Sison accepted the award during the gala dinner which honored the region’s best ERM practitioners. “I’m very happy because it is a testament to how enterprise risk management has grown in the company and how leaders are embracing it. I’m sharing this award with everyone in the organization because they did their part,” Sison said.
Meanwhile, Asia-Pacific’s Risk Management Team of the Year was awarded to Ayala Corporation – one of the Philippines’ largest conglomerates which has diverse interests in real estate, telecommunications, utilities, logistics, financial and insurance services. It also won for Ma. Victoria Tan the Risk Manager of the Year, for spearheading risk management across the Ayala group.
The StrategicRISK Award has been launched to recognize those organizations who delivered outstanding performance by embedding risk management into the decision-making fabric of their respective firms.
“We want to recognize and reward organizations and individuals who have gone the extra mile by embracing risk management strategies in decision-making,” StrategicRISK Asia-Pacific publisher William Sanders explained. “For risk management to become truly effective, it must evolve from being operationally focused to become a tool that supports individuals and companies make better decisions.”
