Best Of HBO International Series To Arrive On U.S. Service In December

During his keynote conversation in Cannes at Mipcom today, HBO Chairman and CEO Richard Plepler announced that the HBO U.S. service will be making available to its customers some of the most acclaimed international, original series from HBO Europe, HBO Latin America and HBO Asia. Beginning in December, two series from each of the regions will arrive on the U.S. streaming services HBO GO and HBO NOW as well as HBO On Demand.

“Working with talented local writers, directors and producers, our international networks are creating programming that live up to the high quality storytelling that is expected of the HBO brand.  This programming regularly outperforms even Game of Thrones’ record audience numbers in their respective markets. I am tremendously proud to bring such a selection of programs to our U.S. audience,” stated Plepler.

The selected content is produced and aired by HBO international networks in Latin America, Europe and Asia in local languages. The programming has been featured at major international film festivals including the Toronto International Film Festival and the Karlovy Vary Film Festival among others.

Plepler is in Cannes to receive the Variety Vanguard Award and spoke on stage about the power of brands in an increasingly competitive global marketplace.

The series to be made available are:

HBO Europe – Czech Republic mini-series WASTELAND, seasons 1 and 2 of Poland series PAKT

HBO Asia – Taiwan series THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC, seasons 1 and 2 of Indonesia/Thailand series HALFWORLDS

HBO Latin America – seasons 1 and 2 of EL HIPNOTIZADOR, and the new Brazilian drama LA VIDA SECRETA DE LAS PARJEAS. (HBO Latin America’s content is also available to U.S. subscribers on the HBO Latino multiplex channel).
