UnionPay, a global payment brand, announced a year-long partnership with Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), the first professional basketball league established in Asia since 1975, and the second oldest professional basketball league globally after the National Basketball Association.

Basketball is the number one sports in The Philippines, watched and loved by millions of people. It has the amazing ability to connect Filipinos from all walks of life, similar to how UnionPay connects consumers, merchants and businesses together.

As the Official Payment Partner, the sponsorship is comprehensive and covers all three conferences Commissioner’s Cup, Governor’s Cup and Filipino Cup, PBA Run for a Cause marathon to raise funds for various charities and the PBA All-Stars Week.

Vincent Ling, Deputy General Manager, UnionPay International Southeast Asia said, “UnionPay is delighted to be the Official Payment Partner of PBA. The PBA partnership is our first major sponsorship in the country, and also our first basketball sponsorship globally. Our strategy is to always serve and connect on a deeper level with our consumers and local communities. As such, UnionPay is constantly engaging our Cardholders through exciting activities. With the PBA partnership, we hope to bring heightened excitement surrounding the games to fans and UnionPay Cardholders.”

PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial said: “We are thrilled to have UnionPay onboard as our first ever payment partner. Over the years, PBA has elevated the level of professionalism and the standard of the basketball in the country. We are proud to make the game ingrained in the fabric of the Pinoy society, and are pleased to partner with UnionPay, who has the same focus to fully serve local communities and residents.”

UnionPays sponsorship kicks off with the Commissioners Cup at Araneta Coliseum last July 10 at the match between Rain or Shine Elastopainters and Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok followed by San Miguel Beermen and Phoenix  PULSE Fuel Masters.

PBA match spectators can look forward to exciting on-court game UnionPay Shoot Your Way organized by UnionPay to win exclusive PBA merchandises and more.

As the Official Payment Partner, UnionPay will be offering exclusive privileges to its customers. Cardholders who spend any amount between July 10 and August 31 2019 with UnionPay Cards issued locally stand to win Money Can’t Buy exclusive PBA merchandises, including PBA jerseys, shirts and Molten basketballs endorsed by popular PBA players such as Junemar Fajardo, LA Tenorio, Asi Taulava, Marc Pingris, Chris Banhero, Sean Anthony.

UnionPay Cardholders need to register their spend at www.unionpaywin.com to participate.

Consumers can look forward to more exciting activities throughout the year organized by UnionPay surrounding its PBA sponsorship. More information will be published on www.unionpaywin.com.
