Globe, together with Google and the Center for Art, New Ventures, and Sustainable Development (CANVAS), launched an exhibit for kids about online safety and data privacy as part of its #AtinAngSecurity month-long celebration in support of the National Privacy Commission’s (NPC) Privacy Awareness Week. The exhibit is based on the NPC-awarded book “Safe Space: A Kid’s Guide to Data Privacy.”

(L-R) NPC Deputy Privacy Commissioner Leandro Angelo Aguirre, NPC Deputy Privacy Commissioner Dug Christopher Mah, Globe Chief Privacy Officer Irish Salandanan-Almeida, Globe Chief Information Security Officer Anton Bonifacio, CANVAS Founder and Executive Director Gigo Alampay, and Google Philippines Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy Yves Gonzalez.

The activity book teaches children aged 6 to 12 about personal data and how to protect it. Using child-friendly language, Safe Space shows how social media, online gaming, and other platforms collect and use personal data. A digital copy of the book is available for free at the Globe eLibrary.

The experiential event allows the audience to develop their appreciation for privacy and security in a creative environment. Globe and its stakeholders are hoping to bring the exhibit to schools so it can reach and engage more people beyond the Privacy Awareness Week celebration.

“Globe has always been a strong advocate of privacy and security. This is why we want to provide our stakeholders with communications and activities that could increase their awareness about this very important topic,” said Anton Bonifacio, Globe Chief Information Security Officer.

“Keeping people safe online is important to Google. We are glad to collaborate with Globe, CANVAS and the National Privacy Commission in creating an exhibit that will educate kids and families about data privacy. Through Google’s products, policies, and partnerships, we will continue to help make the internet a safer space for everyone,” said Yves Gonzalez, Google Philippines Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy.
